Our Vision for the Jewish Community in Madagascar

At The Madagascar Synagogue, we envision a thriving sanctuary for the Jewish community where tradition meets the warmth of familial bonds. With roots that reach back for hundreds of years, our mission is to create a vibrant place of worship that honors Malagasy heritage while providing a welcoming space for both families and individuals alike.

Our synagogue will not only serve as a house of prayer but also as a hub for community connection. We aspire to bring people together through shared rituals, educational programs, and joyful celebrations of Jewish holidays. The synagogue design, developed by a local architect and rabbi, reflects the essence of the rich cultural history, embodying peace and togetherness in our beautiful Malagasy surroundings.

We are committed to fulfilling the diverse needs of our congregation by establishing facilities such as two mikvot for ritual baths – one for men and one for women – and offering family accommodations during the Sabbath and high holy days. All buildings will be complete with electricity, plumbing, and running, filtered water. Our vision extends beyond the walls of the synagogue; we seek to cultivate a space where future generations can connect with their Jewish roots while forming lasting friendships and supportive networks.

Together, we celebrate our faith, honor our traditions, and foster an enduring legacy of Jewish life in Madagascar. Join us in building a community where every member feels at home and inspired by our shared mission of hope and spiritual growth.
